Hi! I’m Lourdes. I am a Chicago-based social scientist, educator, and artist. Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona and indelibly shaped by the Borderlands, I am broadly interested in the psychological processes that drive the racialization of space, prejudice and stereotyping directed against spaces that are racialized as Mexican, as well as how Mexican American people engage in resistance through placemaking practices.

I am currently a social psychology Ph.D. candidate at Northwestern University working under Dr. Galen Bodenhausen and Dr. Onnie Rogers. I will complete my dissertation in May 2027. I received my M.S. in Psychology from Northwestern in 2025, my B.S. in Psychological Science from the University of Arizona in 2021, and my A.A. from Pima Community College in 2019.
